Body cinema: Contemporary artist Robin Rhode

Robin Rhode’s work amazes me completely… he was influenced by street art, sport, performative aspects of visual arts and subcultures of his native South Africa… Rhode is one of the top young contemporary artists today and I would call him freely a grandchild of Marcel Duchamp or Tadeusz Kantor…

Old school photography: Duro Janekovic

Some of you maybe remember when I blogged about  photographer Toso Dabac last year. Yeah, the one we call ‘our Henri Cartier Bresson’. It’s interesting how ’small nations’ always need to refer to ‘bigger nations‘…

Anyway, several weeks ago the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb opened an exhibition with photographs by Duro Janekovic (1912-1989). He was Dabac’s fellow, but his work hasn’t been so far presented… As photojournalist Janekovic created amazing street photographs; and as athlete he had the great sense for dance and sport photography.

The Red Race by Chao Gan

This year Zagreb Film Festival offers very interesting selection in the section for documentary films, so I was literary rooted on the chair of the cinema every day from 5pm to 8pm . Exceptions were made only when I decided to see also the feature films, which means that I just stayed sitting for the rest 3 hours.
